With consistently thrilling visits to the Ermenegildo Zegna boutique on Milan’s Via MonteNapoleone, I can safely say, that if I were a guy, the delicate combination of somewhat romantic silk and linen suits, jackets and coats from their menswear range whould totally appeal to my sense of style. This Italian family-owned business produces and treats their own fabrics near Trivero in Italy and then uses their luxury materials to carefully construct the garments that hang inside their huge solar-lit boutique.
This euro summer, exceptional fitted suits steer clear from boring black offering a lighter, airy version sprayed in tranquil shades of sage green that’s almost grey and soft mauve that hints at purple. Cut and stitched with surgical precision from resin-treated silk, this suit displays a positive twist with a deliberately creased appearance while Mouline sweaters in complementary shades merge silk and linen to achieve buttery soft luxury knits. While surveying the Zegna Sport collection, I discovered an avocado green, zip-up jacket which protects against wind while perspiration escapes thus regulating your body temperature, thanks to the lightweight fabric. An unlined suede jacket, punctured with tiny holes, is also a fine example of ‘Made-in-Italy’ perfection.
I don’t have the ability to fit my curvy little body into any of these, but at least I can hope that more of the opposite sex will embrace their romantic side indulging the women in their lives in this fine menswear collection…
