Don’t shy away from these shoes…

Ciao bellezze!

While getting reacquainted with the stores along Milan’s Quadrilatero Della Moda, I realized just how conservative my fashion sense is. The bizarre heels that are attached to many of this season’s footwear impose a certain edginess that is strangely enticing but which will take some getting used to. Combine these chunky heels with studs, stones and platforms in various designs and you will find yourself spoilt with a choice of shoes that can make or break an entire ensemble.

The Casadei window presented these wedged red and black shoes which seem to defy all logic. They’re very futuristic and simply put, a prelude of trends to come drawing the attention of onlookers who are trying to make sense of its practicality.
The French label, Céline, is also always pushing the boundaries and just when I thought they could not conjure up anything more off-the-wall, they’ve put this metallic closed shoe in plain sight. The yellow gold tone is attention-grabbing but it’s the odd heel that will dictate the rest of your outfit.

A stroll along Via Verri late last night ensured that I was one more person within a crowd of amused shoppers photographing the purple platform sandal in the Alexander McQueen window. Flowers are blooming on this over-the-top creation but it’s beaded ‘floral frilliness’ tends to grow on you…
