How high can you go this European winter?

It’s a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in South Africa. The sun is shining brightly and occasional rain with severe thunderstorms batters the Johannesburg landscape, and while I do have extra-special reason to stay grounded in SA, browsing through my Facebook albums makes me so nostalgic. Despite knowing that Milan is at its iciest, heartwarming photos of my last trip during a temperate September Fashion Week make me want to hop on a plane once more. Here I am on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, clicking my heels down to the Duomo, viewing the newly-arrived winter collections and loving every minute of the constant buzz.

Now as the year draws to a close, the city must be overflowing with shoppers scurrying around the Galleria and the Quadrilatero in a frantic, confusing search for luxurious Christmas gifts. There’s too much to want and only so much a girl can actually carry, so like me, you may have to make peace with the fact that you can’t have everything your eyes see and instead, settle on photographs of the season’s best.

Shoes are my weakness and there’s no such thing as a pair that’s too high.
Here are some of my favourite Winter 2012/13 heels that could each double up as a private stage…

Casadei platform pumps with Swarovski encrusted heels.

Bruno Magli’s classic pointy pairs are available in every rainbow hue from cerise and grape to jade and lilac. Their satin make-up reflects light and the pretty square bow that tops each piece makes these ultra lady-like.

Miu Miu studded booties and peep-toe shoes.

Cesare Paciotti booties and pumps in snakeskin.

Prada’s uniquely shaped ankle booties and pumps in leather. Large beadwork is also sprinkled onto some of these designs.
