Bollywood style showcased in Joburg for “Pippie se Gesiggie”

I attended a fabulous fashion show in aid of the charity foundation “Pippie se Gesiggie” set up for the young burn victim, Isabella Pippie Kruger who underwent ground-breaking skin grafting surgery.

Joburg’s elite crowd turned up at the posh Killarney Country Club to admire special ‘Bollywood’ and Eastern garments created by local and Indian designers, and modelled by famous faces including model, Shashi Naidoo and Plastic Surgeon, Dr Ridwan Mia. To raise even more money, the clothes were up for sale right there after the runway show, although the black and red sari I had my heart set on, was sold even before it made it off the catwalk.

Here I am with my friend, Zeenat. I am wearing a beaded lace shirt bought in Venice with an elegant longer-length leather-feel skirt from Woolworths, ultra-high Jimmy Choo pumps and a Lorella Pagano leather handbag.

These may not be Italian-crafted, but the striking interplay of colours, sheer fabrics, beadwork and textures certainly are beautiful.

One of my favourites, this mid-rif exposing dress is classy, sophisticated and a little naughty…
