I don’t know if the universe is trying to tell me something or not, but for as long as I strolled through Via Montenapoleone and Corso Matteotti, my attention was drawn to all things bling from shoes and dresses to watches, charm bracelets and very expensive diamond jewellery. Perhaps it’s a sign that my collar bone, ear lobes, wrists and fingers absolutely deserve to be adorned by rich gold and flawless precious stones…
As a leo lady with a wild, free and creative spirit, it’s only natural that I am attracted to the Cartier Panther, the French maison’s fierce mascot which can be found lazing in the window of the recently refurbished Cartier boutique along Via Montenapoleone.
Diamonds cover the big cat’s white gold body to make up this captivating ring.
A plunging neckline will provide the perfect podium for this circular pendant with the feline beauty elegantly stretched on a bit of onyx along the circumference.
Then, there’s this playful timepiece which features the panther’s onyx-dotted coat, a crocodile skin strap and diamond-trimmed bezel.
I happily gave up a decent lunch for dessert instead. But who can blame me when Pasticceria San Ambroeus on Corso Giacomo Matteotti fills their windows with luring, tempting treats. It’s a calm little place with a coffee bar as well as a spread of typically Italian pastries and gourmet chocolates on one side while to the left, neatly arranged tables and chairs offer a spacious area in which to dine on a hearty pasta. My indulgence was a decaf caffe latte, a cream profiterole and a strawberry custard tartlet. Yummy!
In my opinion, the award for best-dressed windows goes to DoDo, a jewellery retailer on Corso Matteotti that made their small creations noticed with pop-up displays and amusing words worth a read.
Walking back to Via Montenapoleone, I passed the Alexander McQueen boutique on Via Pietro Verri. I just had to photograph this show-stopping sandal and interesting black dress with beaded detail.
