Going for GOLD… And the winning shoe is…?

When the sky turns grey and the mercury drops, black is always the basic style shade with mood-enhancing colours adding contrasting bursts. Trawling the Quadrilatero Della Moda, I found shoes and bags by Sergio Rossi, Casadei, Roger Vivier and even Alexander McQueen which ditch binding colour despite their therapeutic benefits, and combine black leather with decorative details in more adaptable, ultra-glamorous gold.

Take a look and decide which of these precious pairs win first prize…

A simple T-strap mule with metal cage detail wedged between the heel and the breast of the shoe, PLUS there’s an adorable clutch handbag to match!

Confusion reigns with the most interesting selection of footwear from beaded knee-high boots to classic styles bedazzled in Swarovski stones.

Roger Vivier
I am loving this ankle bootie which coats the back and heel in rich gold.

Alexander McQueen
I spotted these flat pumps in the multi-brand Vierre store. A little on the playful side, they’re comfortable and caught between smart and casual.

And the winning shoe is….the boot!!

The detail is incredible and it looks like it would really flatter and extend the shape of the leg and give a heavenly silhouette.
